Many of our CT neighbors are struggling with food insecurity. The CDR, its volunteers and many friends are doing what we can to help fill this void. Please help today with a monetary or food donation. We particularly need canned goods: fruit, soup, broth, stew, tuna, beans. Please consider doing a simple food drive in your neighborhood! Thank you! [ read more ]

Thank you to the Feinstein Foundation!
Thank you to our generous CDR donors in March and April--your contributions helped the CDR receive an award from the Feinstein Foundation in the amount of $362.53. This award was part of the annual Feinstein Challenge to Fight Hunger.
Got Pantyhose? We need them! Plans are underway for our annual Make Your Own Scarecrow event at Bishop's Orchards. To make the event a success, we are currently seeking pantyhose (to build the scarecrow's body), hats, scarves, gloves and belts. If you have any accessories or pantyhose--old and cleaned or brand new, please drop them off at the Community Dining Room or email Jayne Nunziante.
SAVE THE DATE!
Our annual Make Your Own Scarecrow event will take place at Bishop's Orchards every weekend in October, including Columbus day. Look for more details soon.

The CDR is grateful to be a recipient of food donations collected at Arti Dixson's 4th annual HOPE Gala. Arti Dixson says "I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who attended and supported our 4th Annual HOPE party to fight hunger in CT. Because of you we were able to distribute an abundance of food to The Orange Community Center, The Woodbridge Human Services, The Keefe Center Pantry in New Haven, Fishes and Loaves in New Haven, Makela in West Haven, The Bridgeport Rescue Mission, The Spanish Community Center Pantry in Wallingford, Ispirica in Stamford and the Branford Dining Room." In addition to the CDR and the Branford Food Council, there is another great resource for our neighbors in need: the Connecticut Food Bank's Mobil Food Pantry comes to the New Life Apostolic Church at 26 Jefferson Road in Branford the first Friday of the month at 10am. All are welcome.
