The Community Dining Room is committed to serving the community by feeding the hungry and helping with other basic human needs. We strive to promote public awareness of the impact of hunger and isolation in our society. We are dedicated to helping our guests with their practical needs through referrals and fellowship.
The Community Dining Room serves the south-central Connecticut shoreline from East Haven to Old Saybrook including the towns of East Haven, Branford, North Branford, Guilford, Madison, Clinton, Westbrook, and Old Saybrook.
Many of our CT neighbors are struggling with food insecurity. The CDR, its volunteers and many friends are doing what we can to help fill this void. Please help today with a monetary or food donation. We particularly need canned goods: fruit, soup, broth, stew, tuna, beans. Please consider doing a simple food drive in your neighborhood! Who's ready for Food, Fun and Games? We are! Join us on the Branford Green on Tuesdays 6/11, 7/9 and 8/13 at 5:30pm. Just bring your picnic blanket and water bottle and we will provide a free picnic dinner from 6-6:30pm. After dinner, stay for fun and sports courtesy of the East Shore District Health Dept! The CDR thanks our friends at Comcast for working on some major projects around the Dining Room recently. These included painting the dining room, back porch and bathroom and performing a deep cleaning of our kitchen and pantry. They also purchased a new freezer for us and filled it full of quality fresh meats! We are very grateful for this community support from our Comcast neighbors!
Connex Credit Union recently opened a new branch in Branford. During the ribbon cutting, Connex made a $500 donation to the CDR as a way of thanking the community for welcoming them. [click here for more]
The CDR congratulates Capital One for being recognized in The Civic 50 for their corporate citizenship. Over the last several years, Capital One's volunteers have regularly donated their time to our organization as part of their community engagement program. In addition, Capital One made an extremely generous $5,000 donation to the CDR this year. We appreciate and applaud their commitment to our community. Congratulations, Capital One!
